ATMIA: Talaris, formerly De La Rue Cash Systems, launches new bill-dispensing tech
February 15, 2009
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Talaris, formerly the majority holder of the De La Rue Cash Systems business and the global expert in cash handling technology, launched its new NMD 100e, the company's latest in bill dispensing technology, last week during the ATM Industry Association's annual U.S. event. According to a news release, the launch of the NMD 100e has been driven by the Talaris management team and the company's program of continuous investment in product development and research.
The NMD 100e is being positioned to provide ATM manufacturers a series of market-driven enhancements, including:
- Enhanced high-performance-feed technology that provides best-in-class feed performance with brick quality paper and polymer bills.
- Improved security for ATM replenishment: Enhanced cassette open/close cycle speeds up ATM replenishment, reducing the amount of time spent at the ATM, thus increasing security.
- Lower servicing costs: A higher capacity reject vault means fewer visits are required to the ATM, reducing ATM servicing costs.
- Greater flexibility in the supply chain: Easily configured from rear- to front-service, the NMD 100e enables a configure-to-order system, reducing stock and providing flexibility.
- Extended functionality: The NMD 100e includes an extended range of additional functionality, such as an audible cassette open/close feature as well as an integrated USB port.
"As well as launching the NMD 100e, Talaris will also be celebrating shipment of 100,000 units of the NMD series," said says Adrian Trise, managing director of Talaris original equipment manufacturing. "The first NMD 100 was shipped in 1998, closely followed by the NMD 50 in 2000. Since then the NMD 100 has received critical acclaim for its technology by receiving awards on two consecutive years at the China International Exhibition on Financial Equipment and Technology." Talaris' single denomination dispenser (SDD) also was runner-up in the 2008 joint ATMIA and ATM Marketplace Industry Award for Excellence. The SDD is a secure and compact single denomination bill-dispensing mechanism that is well known in the U.S. retail ATM industry. The award was presented by Tom Harper, president of ATMIA and publisher of ATM Marketplace during the ATMIA conference last week. Also on display at the Talaris booth was the company's full range of Talaris OEM mechanisms, including the multi-denomination, modular NMD 100, the NMD 50 and two compact single denomination dispensers, the SDD and MiniMech.
