Manchester Evening News: ATM operators in the United Kingdom will face heavy fines July 1 if they fail to tell customers whether they face a charge for withdrawing their money. All surcharging ATMs must now carry notices warning "This machine will charge you for Link cash withdrawals."
The new regulatory regime is being introduced by Link, the network that oversees the operators of Britain's 55,234 cash machines. There are around 20,000 machines in the U.K. that charge.
