ATM Marketplace, ATMIA to host webinar about the future of cash and ATM trends

March 22, 2009

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — ATM Marketplace and the ATM Industry Association on March 31 are hosting a webinar about future trends in the ATM and financial services industry.

The one-hour webinar, "ATM future trends and a lean toward more cash," begins at 2 p.m. EDT and includes presentations from Tracy Kitten, senior editor of ATM Marketplace; Mike Lee, chief executive of ATMIA; and a panel discussion with Suzanne Galvin, vice president of ATM and debit management for WaMu/Chase, and Michael Sadofsky, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Louisville, Ky-based Republic Bank.

The webinar revolves around industry trends and outlooks compiled in ATM Marketplace's ATM Future Trends Report 2009, which launched earlier this month. Kitten says the webinar will offer an overview of some of the research and information collected over a six-month period for the 130-page report.

"We've decided with the webinar to focus on cash and regulatory trends, which have both been affected by the recent downturn in the global economy," she said. "With our bankers' panel, we hope to offer a well-rounded industry perspective — one that includes insight from industry insiders as well as the end market."

The ATM and financial self-service industry continues to evolve, despite relative maturity in the United States. ATM deployers in the U.S. and beyond are considering a number of issues, from the implementation of advanced transactions and ever-increasing regulatory forces to a renewed focus on the distribution and dissemination of cash and automated deposits.

In this age of economic uncertainty, the ATM industry continues to flourish. As financial institutions across the globe enhance their ATM channels with automated-deposit functionality, independent ATM deployers are looking for new opportunities and ways to work with those FIs.

Topics to be covered

Based on the research and survey findings of a collaborative effort spearheaded by ATM Marketplace and the ATM Industry Association, the webinar's speakers will discuss:

• Emerging cash trends in developed and developing markets • Opportunities for independent ATM deployers and financial institutions to collaborate • Economic forces that are driving ATM-transaction volumes • Customer retention and new customer acquisition through the ATM
