ATM bomber in Africa gets 20 years
November 24, 2008
The (Pietermaritzburg, South Africa) Witness: A High Court in South Africa has sentenced a convicted ATM bomber to 20 years in prison. Mzwakhe Gule, 44, was found guilty for the bombing and for the murder of two co-perpetrators, who were shot by police. Gule was wounded. The presiding judge highlighted the high incidence of ATM bombings — 1,000 during the last year, with 160 of those occurring in the KwaZulu-Natal province where Gule was convicted — as the reason for the strict punishment.
