Apple Pay wins over Target, Taco Bell

January 24, 2019

Apple has added several partners to its Apple Pay service, including retailing powerhouse Target, Hy-Vee supermarkets and the Speedway convenience store chain. The platform is also being added at quick service chains Taco Bell and Jack in the Box.

With these and other new additions, the mobile payments platform will be available at 74 of the top 100 U.S. merchants, an Apple press release said.

Apple Pay is rolling out to 7,000 Taco Bell and 2,200 Jack in the Box locations, 245 Hy-Vee stores and 3,000 Speedway sites. At Target, the Apple Pay rollout is part of a more comprehensive mobile checkout initiative for the company's 1,850 stores across the U.S.

"Whether customers are buying everyday household items, groceries, snacks for a road trip or grabbing a quick meal, Apple Pay is the easiest way to pay in stores, while also being secure and faster than using a credit or debit card at the register," Jennifer Bailey, vice president of internet services at Apple, said in the release.
