Antonini leaves Cardtronics
March 18, 2009
HOUSTON — Jack Antonini has left the helm of Cardtronics Inc., the world's largest independent ATM operator. The news came yesterday, after the former chief executive announced he would be leaving the company and stepping down from its board of directors, effective immediately.
Fred R. Lummis, chairman of the Cardtronics board, has agreed to serve as interim CEO until Antonini's replacement is found.
"Jack has made a significant contribution over the past six years as Cardtronics' CEO, taking the company from a small private company to the largest non-bank operator of ATMs in the world," Lummis said. "Jack and the board have mutually decided that it would be in the best interests of the company to bring in a new CEO with a fresh perspective on how to capitalize on our many strengths and further develop our strategic direction."
Antonini joined Cardtronics in 2002.
Cardtronics reported a $57.9 million net loss for the fourth quarter of 2008 and a $70 million net loss for the year. Those losses had steepened since last year, when the company reported a $43.5 million loss for 4Q 2007 and a $63.4 million loss for the year.
