Allpoint surcharge-free network ATM count tops 55,000

March 26, 2013

Surcharge-free ATM provider Allpoint Network has announced the addition of 5,000 new cash points, bringing the total count for the network to 55,000 machines. Many of the newly acquired locations are in the northern Plains states.

Organic growth, acquisition of new retailer partners, international expansion, and merger and acquisition activity by Allpoint parent company Cardtronics have helped to more than double the size of the company's surcharge-free network within the past 10 years — from 23,000 in 2003 to 55,000 today.

Cardtronics added its latest 5,000 Allpoint ATMs through the acquisitions of Access to Money Inc. and ATM Network Inc., furthering its position as the largest provider of surcharge-free ATMs globally, the company said.

"We feel duty-bound to our card-issuing members — as well as their cardholders — to continually expand surcharge-free ATM access," said Ben Psillas, president of Allpoint Network. "By extending Allpoint Network's footprint at the most convenient retail locations in the United States and beyond, we've created value-added benefit for existing customers and enticing new reasons for all other card issuers to consider membership."

Psillas said that the guiding philosophy behind Allpoint Network — and the impetus for its expansion — is to meet people where they are "because consumers don't want to make extra trips or stops for cash."
