Acquirer Systems intros time-saving EMV terminal emulator

March 11, 2013

Acquirer Systems, a provider of test and validation solutions for the payments industry, has announced the launch of its EMV terminal emulator. The company said the product offers a time-saving solution for U.S. acquirers and processors working to meet EMV compliance deadlines.

In the absence of their own EMV terminal deployments, many U.S. acquirers and processors must simulate EMV traffic for testing. The ASTREX EMV Terminal Emulator from Acquirer Systems provides a virtual EMV terminal for a desktop PC.

The emulator generates EMV transactions for the acquirer's frontend platforms. For acquirers and processors who do not have an EMV terminal estate, this eliminates the need to develop an EMV terminal application.

Acquirer Systems CEO Fergal Molloy said that the company worked with the payment schemes to deliver a solution that would help the U.S. payments industry meet the April liability shift deadline set by the major payment associations.

Aidan Corcoran, CTO of Acquirer Systems, said, "U.S. payments firms migrating to EMV have the challenge of ensuring adequate testing of EMV scenarios. With the first of the mandated deadlines fast approaching, acquiring and processing firms need solutions that can simulate a true EMV environment to help them to certify quickly and with certainty."
