Growth in Asia-Pacific's credit-card issuance, spending expected to continue

Datamonitor:Last month, HSBC announced it experienced double-digit growth in credit-card uptake and spending across Asia-Pacific in 2005. The bank issued 8.5 million credit cards in the region and card spending and credit-card receivables increased by more than 30 percent. Hong Kong experienced the greatest growth, but the upswing is expected to continue in emerging economies like China, where credit for payment is increasing.
