ATMs in APAC and Australia: The value of testing

An April 9 webinar developed for an Australia-APAC audience will examine the effects of ATM testing on the end-user experience.

Ninety-one percent of customers who have a bad experience with a business will not willingly use that business again. Those who do, willingly or not, will need seven subsequent positive experiences to rebuild the trust that was lost in the one bad one.

Most of us only have to consult our own memory of disappointing customer experiences to know that this is certainly true.


 

This can be especially problematic for an ATM deployer. In the first place, it's impossible to reach out to apologize personally to customers who have had a poor experience with your machine — in the case of an outage, you won't even know which customers — or how many — were turned away.

In the second place, when you are an ATM deployer, that bad experience isn't just about the consumer not being able to use your machine.

Instead, it's about something much more personal, and therefore, much more egregious: It's about the way you kept that customer from accessing their money.

And in the third place, because the quality of a customer's ATM experience is dependent on an ever-changing assortment of parts, programs and procedures, it can be very difficult to determine how and when customer issues might arise. And what you can't foresee, you can't avert.
