Bankers, business partners, ATM service providers and financial industry experts from around the globe will convene next week at the A2 Forum in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Germany, for Wincor World 2014.

The Jan. 21–23 trade fair hosted by Wincor Nixdorf promises insights and intelligence on virtually every aspect of self-service banking.

"Wincor World is certainly worth a visit since, alongside the exhibition, the focus is on transferring know-how and networking," said Anja Lindner, head of industry marketing banking at Wincor Nixdorf. "International experts from prestigious companies and banks will be giving presentations in approximately 60 keynotes and workshops.

"If drivers for your retail banking business are the changing role of your branch, efficient and secure operation of your self-service channel, or enhanced self-service offerings to your customers, Wincor World is definitely the place to be.

The exhibition will revolve around four strategic topics: customer experience, branch transformation, omnichannel banking, and operational excellence. Lindner cited six areas of particular importance in a rapidly changing global financial services market:

Branch transformation

The focus will be on creating an experience that brings the customer back time after time. Exhibits will showcase:

  • examples of various branch formats;
  • customer service solutions — ranging from traditional teller to tablet-based assisted service to self-service — that allow an FI to increase automation and still get closer to the customer; and
  • channel integration that enables overlapping campaigns, mobile transactions, video services, intuitive ATM user interfaces — all of the ways an FI can respond to changing customer behavior.

Operational excellence

Delegates will get a firsthand look at performance boosts for IT, the branch and the ATM environment. A live control center will offer an at-a-glance view of Wincor Nixdorf ATM network management.

"This is just a snapshot of our end-to-end solution comprising software, professional services, and services to manage your ATM fleet and your branch network — scalable from single systems up to transformational outsourcing," Lindner said.

Exhibits will include:

  • ATM monitoring by ProView and as a service;
  • service operations for ATMs, branches and enterprise IT; and
  • availability concepts for ATMs and branch IT.

Intuitive ATM interfaces

New interface technologies introduced through smartphones and tablets have changed customer expectations toward usability. So, Lindner said, it is about time to look at the ATM as one of the most frequented customer touch points — and often the place where the customer experience begins.

ATM availability

Highest possible availability in the self-service channel is key to a positive customer experience. Ensuring it involves every step in ATM delivery from product development to operations. An exhibit in the reliability and modularity area will provide live insight into ensuring high product quality from the start.

Windows 7 migration risk management

The PC/E Terminal Security exhibit will be an essential stop for delegates whose banks will not meet the deadline for Windows XP migration, and will face a major security threat with Microsoft end of support. It will also interest to attendees looking to protect their ATMs against the threat of logical attacks.

This exhibit will demonstrate how PC/E Terminal Security can:

  • protect self-service systems against malware, viruses, and other threats; and
  • prevent unauthorized system access or the use of unauthorized devices.

PC/E has been successfully audited by a PCI DSS qualified security assessor, and offers a future-proof solution that's both multivendor-enabled and Windows 7-ready.

Fraud prevention by intelligent data correlation

Also in the security area, the Fraud Correlation Engine exhibit allows delegates to see how seemingly independent data from different sources can add up to an efficient system for detecting fraud attempts.

Instead of applying a reactive solution after an attack has occurred, the engine helps to more efficiently use systems that are already in place, by:

  • correlating data from existing security systems such as video surveillance, anti-skimming devices and door access controls;
  • detecting and reporting deviations and irregularities for immediate analysis; and
  • enabling a faster decision on required countermeasures and immediate reaction to fraud attempts.
