PADERBORN, Germany -Philip Mantle, a member of Wincor Nixdorf AG's board of directors since October 2005, unexpectedly died Dec. 22 at the age of 55.
Mantle joined Wincor in 2002 as general manager of its U.K. operations. With his instinct for business development, Mantle played a key role in leading Wincor Nixdorf Ltd. in the United Kingdom to success.
As a member of the company's board, Mantle was responsible for the Wincor's global banking business.
"In Philip Mantle we have lost an extraordinary colleague of great integrity and vision," Wincor executives announced in a news release. "His outstanding professional expertise, his experience and his even-handed management style won him the respect and esteem of all who knew him."
Wincor president and chief executive Karl-Heinz Stiller will assume responsibility for the company's global banking business with the board of directors until Mantle's replacement is named.
