SAN JOSE, Costa Rica - Western Union's Latin American operations center in Costa Rica has won the country's premier business award, the Costa Rica National Quality Award.
According to a news release, Costa Rica's Institute of Managerial Excellence gives the award to organizations that have accomplished exceptional performance requisites.
"The National Quality Award is a process that looks to encourage permanent improvement in organizations, regardless of their size or line of business, through the exchange of knowledge, implementation of best practices in organizational management and the combination of efforts toward a culture of excellence," said Guido Monge, the institute's director.
Western Union is the first company to win the honor in its first entry year. The company also is the first to receive the award while simultaneously winning awards in leadership, customer service, human resources, innovation and technology.
