Wells Fargo offers paperless ATM receipt option

The Technology Chronicles blog reports that Wells Fargo is giving its customers a paperless option for ATM receipts. Claiming to be the first bank to give customers an option to have their ATM receipt sent immediately to their e-mail accounts or to Wells Fargo online account inboxes, Wells Fargo says it's taking another step toward reducing the amount of paper it uses. Users can choose the option at the end of their transactions and the e-mail will include an image of the transaction receipt.
The Technology Chronicles says Wells quietly rolled out the paperless receipt option to San Francisco users last month. Jonathan Velline, head of ATM banking for Wells, says between 7 percent and 8 percent of users have already started requesting receipts via e-mail.
"Customers are used to online and mobile banking to track their finances, so figuring out ways to move the ATM channel into the way they're working is important," Velline said. "People are also looking for ways to be greener, but they want the data on the receipts, so email is a logical solution."
