Welch ATM and the Missouri Lottery have partnered with selected convenience stores in St. Louis and Kansas City to provide fast, convenient access to lottery games and potential winnings.
Fifty ATMs at St. Louis c-stores will offer Quick Pick purchases for Powerball and Mega Millions games by March 7. Another 50 machines will launch lottery ticket sales in Kansas City by the end of the month.
"We are starting this program in St. Louis and Kansas City, but plans are well underway to launch Missouri Lottery-enabled ATMs throughout the state," said Welch ATM CEO Jeff Hewitt.
The program is likely not only to drive more foot traffic and transactions to the machines, but also to produce incremental revenue for retailers, said Welch SVP Adam Hobelmann.
"Stores that typically utilized lottery machines will also see a reduction in store real estate through consolidation of equipment," he said. "Locations that still sell lottery at the counter will likely have shorter lines as lottery customers are diverted to the ATM."
The release said that Welch sees this Missouri launch as only the beginning of its relationship with the Lottery program.
"With our nationwide reach, we hope to be able to bring the benefits and added convenience of Lottery enabled ATMs to all of our partners throughout the US," Hewitt said.
