Want coffee with that? Credit union adds ATMs at NY bagel shops

August 19, 2003

ALBANY, N.Y. -- SEFCU (State Employees Federal Credit Union), which has 116,000 members in New York state, is expanding its network of ATMs at 14 Bruegger's Bagel Bakery locations.

Eight new ATMs will be installed at Bruegger's locations from Albany to Queensbury, according to a report in the Business Review. Another six will be installed in the Syracuse area.

With the new machines, which are to be installed by mid-September, SEFCU will have 54 ATMs in the region.

Another four ATMs, to be located in the 20 Mall in Guilderland and adjacent to the SEFCU headquarters being constructed in Albany, will be installed by year's end.

Last month, SEFCU signed a deal with the Allpoint ATM network, which will give its members access to 24,000 ATMs operated by Cardtronics and E*Trade Financial throughout the U.S., including 1,800 in New York state. SEFCU customers will pay a 95-cent fee to use the machines. (See related story Allpoint ATM network adds new members, raises more capital)
