Verizon debuts wireless remote management for ATMs

August 2, 2013

Verizon Enterprise Solutions is introducing a fully managed, wireless ATM connectivity solution, Managed Wireless ATMs, that banks can deploy to their remote or mobile ATMs, or use in business continuity planning.

A news release from Verizon said the solution, powered by the company's expansive 4G LTE network, is ideal for banks that deploy ATMs in remote or off-premises locations such as malls or retail stores. It can also be used for quick recovery from natural disasters and outages that affect branch locations, the company said.

"Historically, ATMs have been difficult to deploy to specific or temporary locations and have offered banks limited revenue generating potential," said Scott Eason, global vice president of financial services and retail at Verizon Enterprise Solutions. "With Managed Wireless ATMs, we’ve created a winning formula that allows financial institutions to create value and control the total cost of ownership for ATMs, while providing their customers convenience and flexibility."

Managed Wireless ATMs features enterprise-grade security, with encrypted, end-to-end communications over private networks, supported by Verizon’s carrier-grade scalability, reliability and service.

The solution integrates with Verizon PCI compliance services and includes Dynamic Mobile Network Routing capability, which provides visibility into the devices that are connected to wireless routers.
