VeriFone earnings report better than expected

(San Jose) Mercury News: VeriFone's winning streak has continued since its 2005 offering. In August, the company reported that third-quarter revenue had surged 17 percent from the same quarter a year ago. The San Jose, Calif.-based company makes electronic-payment systems.
