V.com to push 7-Eleven spending in 2002

January 31, 2002

DALLAS - Officials from convenience store chain 7-Eleven (NYSE:SE) said the company will be spending more money so customers can collect their own money in 2002.

Capital expenditures at 7-Eleven are expected to top the $500 million mark during fiscal year 2002 as compared to $357 million last year. A large chunk of that added expense will come by installing 3,500 V.com financial services kiosks at their stores during the year. Additional spending will also come in the areas of store and field staff training.

The V.com kiosk provides ATM services, money order and wire transfers, check-cashing, and telecommunications services. The first set of kiosks rolled out in a 94-store pilot program last year in Florida and Texas.
