US Bankcorp ATMs experience 2-hour outage

In case you'd forgotten how interconnected the U.S. electrical grid has become, here's a reminder from US Bankcorp. On Saturday morning, the Minneapolis-based bank's customers experienced sporadic ATM outages across an 8,000-machine network caused by a power failure in Oregon, some 1,700 miles away.

The Associated Press reported that the outage lasted from 7:30 a.m. EDT until 9:30 a.m. EDT. US Bank spokesperson Tom Joyce told the AP that the network was fully restored by that time and working normally.

Joyce went on to say that the outage was not caused by a security or computer network hacking issue.
