US Bank accepting ATM donations for OK tornado victims

June 14, 2013

U.S. bank will be accepting customer donations at its ATMs through Monday, June 17. More than 2,000 U.S. Bank ATMS in 25 states are enabled to support donations to help victims of the tornadoes that hit Oklahoma and other states last month.

Funds will go directly to the Red Cross to help people affected by disasters.

The bank had originally set an end date of June 6 for donations, but extended it by nearly two weeks. The United States has experienced an unusual number of devastating natural disasters over the last month, including floods in Missouri, wildfires in Colorado and two F-5 tornadoes in the Oklahoma cities of Moore and El Reno.

"The impact of the tornadoes in Oklahoma and the Midwest was devastating and the road to recovery will be long for many families," said Neal Litvack, chief development officer for the Red Cross. "Through the generosity of its partners such as U.S. Bank and its customers and employees, the American Red Cross can quickly respond with shelter, food and comfort now, and lasting support as residents move toward recovery."
