UL has expanded its payment terminal end-to-end certification services with accreditation from Discover. The company now provides validation services for Diners Club International contact and contactless globally, expanding on existing certification services for customers in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.
"UL's expansion to include support of Diners Club International-enabled contact and contactless terminals globalizes the existing service that UL is providing for Discover," said Ellie Smith, head of the chip center of excellence at Discover. "Furthermore, it supports our ongoing efforts to streamline certification and deployment processes for our customers."
Organizations deploying contact and contactless terminals for the Diners Club and Discover D-Payment Application Specification must ensure that their devices are compliant with the specification requirements set forth by Discover.
As part of a new agreement, UL will guide organizations that accept Diners Club cards through the payment terminal end-to-end certification process, ensuring the global interoperability of payment cards and terminals.
"We are very pleased with the expansion of our Discover certification portfolio, which adds to our one-stop shop of accredited certification services we offer for different brands and industry bodies," said Erwin Jansen, managing director for EMEA and LA at the UL Transaction Security division. "This accreditation will greatly benefit our customers, as it will streamline the certification process, reduce time to market, and enable, interoperable and compliant devices."
