UK's Link network gains 51st member

January 29, 2004

LONDON - National Savings and Investments (NSandI) has joined Link, the UK's national cash machine network, bringing the total number of members to 51.

Cardholders of NSandI's new Easy Access Savings Account will now be able to access cash and balance inquiries through 47,000 Link-branded ATMs, according to a news release.

In addition to providing access to all Link-branded cash machines, Link's network infrastructure -- which connects Link to Post Office systems as part of the government's universal banking program -- enables customers of the new NSandI account to use 38,000 Post Office counters to make check and cash deposits, check their balance and withdraw cash.

Atmos, Link's outsourcing division, is also supplying a number of services for NSandI, including its new card management system (hot card management and processing orders for card/PIN production), transaction processing, authorizations via Atmos' BASE24 software and settlement via Link.

The implementation will be completed in late January when the service goes live, according to the release.

"Following the implementation of an outsourced card service for Bradford & Bingley plc, this reinforces the market reputation that Atmos delivers a high quality, reliable, value-for-money card issuing and management solution for financial institutions," said Peter Flynn, Atmos general manager, in the release.
