UK bank customers paying more in fees, as free ATMs, branches slashed

February 10, 2020

Bank customers in the U.K. are paying millions more in bank fees as free cash machines are being slashed, and bank branches are shrinking, according to a blogpost by consumer group Which?

Fees collected for cash withdrawal reached 104 million pounds ($134 million) in 2019, an increase of 29 million pounds ($37 million) from year-ago figures.

The banking industry in the U.K., however, eliminated 8,700 free cash machines and closed 1,203 branches.
