LONG BEACH, Miss. -- Triton Systems announced that its ATM shipments for 1998 surpassed 10,000 units for the first time, representing a 35 percent increase over 1997. According to Dr. Ernest Burdette, the company's president, Triton's ATMs are now deployed in over 30,000 retail locations, making Triton the fifth largest ATM manufacturer in the world and, for the fourth consecutive year, the third largest in
the U.S.
Triton's initiative to expand its international sales was a major factor fueling its continued growth. For example, in its first full year of operations in Canada, Triton ATMs were deployed in over 1,500 locations, an increase from five units in 1997.
According to figures obtained from The Nilson Report in Oxnard, Calif., this vaulted Triton into position as the number one manufacturer of cash dispensers in Canada. "Our first foray into international markets accelerated our momentum, and we are poised with
distribution agreements in more than six additional countries. We look forward to 1999 as a year of even greater success that could bring Triton into third place worldwide over the next two to three years," Burdette said.
Another factor that the company hopes will contribute to its growth in 1999 is the launch of the Mako Cash Dispenser, which is designed for low-volume retail locations."Contrary to the overall flat ATM market in the U.S., we still see growth occurring domestically in the off-premise market," Burdette said.
