HAMILTON, New Zealand - The New Zealand Association of Credit Unions (NZACU), which has 44 member credit unions in 98 locations nationwide, says that it will offer Triton's new RL5000 and FT5000 ATMs to its members.
The TCP/IP-enabled ATMs will connect to the association's ATM processing network through existing high-speed wide area networks (WANs). According to a news release, the IP connections will reduce transaction processing times for customers and decrease communication costs for ATM operators.
John Keenan, the association's business services chairman said that Credit Unions will be the first financial institution outside the United States to purchase the two new Triton models, the RL5000 and the FT5000.
"Electronic fraud continues to increase in both sophistication and loss exposure," said Doug McLaren, the association's chief executive, noting that the machines' Triple DES and EPP (Encrypting Pin Pad) technology played a part in the association's decision to purchase them.
The NZACU was established in 1961 as the Credit Union League and changed its name in 1989. Today, the NZACU has 44 member credit unions in 98 locations nationwide, representing more than 172,000 credit union nembers, with total assets in excess of $443 million.
