Tranax intros ATM series targeted to FIs

October 5, 2003

FREMONT, Calif. - Tranax Technologies, Inc., has released its much-anticipated MBS5000 series of ATMs, which it says is designed for the unique needs of financial institutions.

The PC-based MBS5000 will be supported by all leading transaction processors, according to a news release.

The weatherized and Triple DES compliant MBS5000 has a variety of features, including an Encrypting PIN Pad (EPP), UL291 Level One ATM certification, sun-viewable monitors and stainless steel key pads. The 27-inch body of the MBS5000, which weighs about 1,000 pounds, fits on a 36-inch island and retrofits into a Slimline kiosk with minimal modification.

Connectivity is established through a modem or Ethernet card, and NDC+ as well as other emulation packages can be delivered via TCP/IP.

The primary markets for this new series, according to the release, are community banks and credit unions operating ATMs that are not Triple DES compliant and need to be replaced. (See related story Bridging the FI divide)

"The Tranax MBS5000 is an impressive alternative for financial institutions that aren't willing to sacrifice functionality for affordability," said Bryan Rush, vice president of checking computer
operations at McHenry Savings Bank. "A brand new MBS5000 provided us with a sun-viewable color monitor, the ability to change marketing ads via dial-up, and resolved TDES compliance issues -- all for significantly less than what it would have cost to replace our aged ATMs through our original manufacturer."

Eric Sternberg, vice president of marketing for Tranax, said in the release, "In today's marketplace, financial institutions must decide whether to purchase new, Triple DES compliant ATMs from their current providers or find new vendors that deliver better value," From a cost of ownership perspective, our solution is much more affordable than those offered by legacy vendors."
