TNS wireless payment gateway adds new terminal

December 9, 2009

Merchants and ISOs across America can now use Hypercom's compact Optimum M4230 mobile and T4230 countertop terminals on the Synapse wireless payment gateway, now that Transaction Network Services has certified the full-featured mobile device.    According to a news release from TNS, Synapse is a wireless payment gateway and management solution that enables ISOs, acquirers and processors to manage their wireless terminal portfolios. Adding the Hypercom Optimum terminals to the portfolio of certified devices on its Synapse gateway is part of TNS's active investment program to enhance the platform and offer its customers more choice in the way they accept payments.     The Optimum M4230 and T4230 offer long range GPRS connectivity through the Synapse payment gateway to processor TSYS. The terminals are PCI PED and MasterCard PTSP approved, and feature powerful 32-bit multiapplication processing with a fast V.34 modem.   John Perry, general manager of TNS's payments division, says the company is excited about the ability to offer Hypercom's terminals through the Synapse gateway:
TNS acquired Synapse in 2004 and is committed to strengthening Synapse's position as one of the most reliable, secure and respected wireless payment gateways in the U.S. We have a team devoted to exploring potential new certifications and growing the range of devices available. By offering our customers an increasing number of devices to choose from, we are confident we can meet almost any merchant need.
The Synapse solution includes wireless network access, account activation, fast, reliable and secure transaction delivery to most major processors, Web-based merchant and terminal management, customizable online reporting, and live 24/7 customer service. Using a PCI DSS-certified processing environment, it offers a broad range of end-to-end services.
