TNS markets prepaid MasterCard cards

TORONTO - Mint Inc., a subsidiary of Mint Technology Corp., and Horizon Plus Card Services Ltd. announced June 29 a distribution agreement with TNS Smart Network Inc.

TNS Prepaid Financial Corp., a division of ATM transaction processor TNS Smart Network - which provides services to more than 7,000 ATMs and POS devices in Canada - will distribute Prepayedge prepaid MasterCard cards for Mint and Horizon, according to a news release.

Mint will provide TNS with a prepaid MasterCard turnkey program. Peoples Trust of Vancouver will be responsible for card issuance under its agreement with Horizon.

"Prepaid products have become commonplace in Canada with millions of consumers using prepaid cell phones, long distance cards and wireless services," said Mischa Weisz, president and chief executive of TNS. "We see the Prepayedge MasterCard as the next evolution in consumer satisfaction and convenience. … (It) is ideal for secure Internet shopping, to replace traveler's cheques while vacationing, as an optimal solution for small business travel, and is perfect for gift giving, among many other uses."

The cards can be reloaded via fund-transfer.
