TNS intros smart SIM for ATMs, POS

Transaction Network Services has launched smart SIM capability for its Global Wireless Access solution to offer wireless connectivity for ATMs, point-of-sale terminals and other payments devices. The SIM is a pre-activated solution that routes data through a private Access Point Name across TNS' PCI DSS payments network, according to a press release.

The device can choose or change mobile networks based on the quality of the connection to avoid poor signal, local operator data congestion or service issues.

"GWA is a solution that is incredibly popular in Europe and Asia thanks to its ease of deployment, smart roaming capabilities and simple yet comprehensive management portal," Shaun Donaghey, managing director, payments market, TNS, said in the release. "We're excited to not only offer these proven wireless capabilities to merchants and ISOs across North America, but also to make available our global wireless capabilities to North American customers looking to grow their business internationally."
