Netherlands-based TMD Security has launched One Touch Access Security, a mobile app for keyless access to all types of ATM top boxes, safes and doors, according to a press release.

The app is secure, fast, and easy-to-use, available for mobile phone and PDA, and removes the need for physical keys and cards, the company said.

A problem for the industry is that there are many different access protocols for ATM top boxes, safes and access doors, which means qualified personal need to carry numerous keys and cards with them. Managing these keys and cards is inefficient, resulting in wasted time traveling to key centers to collect and return keys or waiting for a keyholder to show up during the visit. Keys and cards can also get lost and stolen.

Using TMD Security's mobile app, when an authorized branch staff, cash-in-transit personnel or service engineer is in close proximity to the lock, the central TMD Access Management server application, which provisions and schedules access for all locks in the system, automatically checks the user ID, access schedule and the IDs of the mobile device and lock. If all the credentials are correct, the system generates a one-time password to open the lock.

TMD Security's CEO Cees Heuker of Hoek called the new One Touch Access Security "game changing."

"The app is unique because it provides one consistent way to open all types of locks and ensures access is fast, easy and secure. We are committed to help ATM deployers, CITs and service providers reduce operational costs by removing the need for handling physical keys," he said in the release.

According to the company, two banks in Europe are using TMD Access Management, and several pilots are active in other parts of the world.
