Tidel is one of Forbes 'Best Small Companies'

March 7, 2002

HOUSTON -- Tidel Technologies, Inc.(Nasdaq: ATMS), announced that it ranked 55th in Forbes magazine's list of 200 Best Small Companies in America. This marks the company's first time to be included in the annual listing, which appears in the Oct. 30 issue.

Forbes selects publicly traded companies for the list based on its criteria, which includes sales between $5 million and $350 million; five-year sales and EPS growth rates of at least five percent; and net income of at least $1 million during the past four quarters.

Forbes reported that Tidel had sales growth of 80 percent in the last twelve months and 39 percent over the last five years. Corresponding earnings per share grew 144 percent over the last 12 months and 37 percent over the last five years, according to the magazine. Recently, Tidel reported record shipments of 12,426 ATMs for fiscal 2000, up 76 percent from the 7,061 ATMs shipped in the previous fiscal year and up 200 percent over the 4,140 units shipped in fiscal 1998.

"We are very proud of all that we have accomplished over the last five years as the company has grown to become a leading ATM manufacturer," said James T. Rash, Tidel chairman and CEO. "This recognition is a direct reflection of the efforts of our dedicated employees, whose creativity and hard work are responsible for Tidel's dynamic growth."
