It's a dirty job for a crook, but some might consider it a good few months' work, given a haul of some 60,000 pounds ($99,031).
That comes to about $2,000 per foot for thieves in the Greater Manchester area of England who dug a 50-foot tunnel stretching from an empty "wasteland" to the approximate location of the ATM in a nearby Tesco food store.
According to a report by The Descrier, the crew spent months digging the tunnel until they reached their destination last Friday, breaking through the floor of the supermarket then tunneling their way back out with the cash.
Authorities believe the project could not have gone unnoticed by passersby, and are asking for tips from anyone who might have seen people in the area acting suspiciously, and "possibly covered in soil."
