The 50th state? If you're NCR, it's Alaska

February 23, 2017

Technically, Hawaii is the 50th U.S. state and Alaska is the 49th. But for NCR Corp., Alaska is the 50th … to get the company's interactive teller machine.

With ITM installations underway at Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union branches in Palmer, Alaska, the technology is in use in all 50 U.S. states, NCR said this week in a press release.

NCR ITM technology allows MVFCU customers to interact with a remotely located teller via high-quality video and audio. The teller can remotely control the modules on the device while engaging the customer in a two-way, real-time video conversation, the release said.

"Adding NCR's Interactive Teller to our network of branches and ATMs was a natural next step in our commitment toward providing easier and more accessible service to our members," MVFCU COO Ed Gravley said in the release. "Many of our members either commute to Anchorage or are located in remote areas, and this will benefit those unable to visit a branch during traditional hours."

MVFCU will install its first ITMs at branch locations in Palmer and Wasilla; the CU plans to eventually expand its ITM fleet to Anchorage, as well.
