Chunghwa Post, Taiwan's postal service and savings bank, is increasing the security of its ATMs around the country.
The new system, which will reportedly cost Chunghwa Post approximately $1 million, will alert in the event that an ATM user lingers at the machine for more than 15 minutes, according to a report by Taiwan News.
Initially, the system will send a message through the ATM to advise the loitering individual to leave. If this warning goes unheeded, security personnel will be dispatched to the machine to remove the individual.
Preinstalled features of the 24/7 remote-control system include imaging, electronic patrol, anti-pinhole photography and a broadcasting system issues warnings to loiterers, the report said.
The smart system can additionally detect flood, fire, and hidden cameras at the ATM.
