SAN FRANCISCO - Swipe USA, an independent ATM management firm, is celebrating its sixth year of operation as 2005 draws to a close - a year that marks an annual revenue increase of 20 percent from 1999, when the company launched its services.
According to a news release, Swipe operates ATMs in Sony Metreon, Burger King, Mel's Diners and Planet Juice franchises, among others, across the nation. The company has dispensed more than $250 million in cash. In 2004 it acquired a Bay Area ATM management firm, adding 80 ATMs to its portfolio.
Over the past year the company successfully lobbied in California to collect ATM surcharges from foreign bank accounts. Swipe also expanded its network beyond San Francisco into southern California and Nevada.
In 2006 Swipe is expected to launch its Swipe Gives Back program, which will support charities that focus on financial-management education, music education, entrepreneurship, hunger and domestic violence.
