STMicroelectronics on board with Datacard chip validation program

The Datacard CVP will help to ensure accurate encoding of the full range of STPay EMV smartcard solutions prior to mass rollout, the companies say.

September 30, 2015

STMicroelectronics, a supplier of smart-card chips, has entered into an agreement with Entrust Datacard to participate in its card validation program. This will allow ST to validate the compatibility of its STPay EMV smartcard solutions with Datacard personalization solutions prior to full implementation.

"We are very pleased to be partnering with Entrust Datacard, as they are a known leader in the industry," said Marie-France Florentin, general manager, of the secure microcontroller division ST. "The CVP program ensures that our chips are validated and work well with Datacard solutions, while it also gives our customers peace of mind when they know that their investment is tested and proven before production of their end-customers' cards begins."

Through this program, ST will be offering its extensive portfolio of STPay EMV smartcard solutions, including Java and Multos operating systems and covering payment applications such as Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discover, and JCB, in both contact and dual-interface modes, the release said.

Entrust Datacard launched the CVP program in 2014 to help their customers validate and test smart chips in preparation for mass rollout of their EMV card programs.
