Singapore bank will offer SMS alerts for suspicious ATM activity

January 10, 2012

Channel NewsAsia reports that DBS Bank will implement a system that will send customers an SMS alert when ATM withdrawals are made from their accounts over a pre-determined amount, or "when it detects unusual transaction activity."

The move is in response to a skimming attack last week in which 400 customers lost funds from their accounts.

The new service is in addition to existing alert systems for online banking and credit card activity.
