Security camera captures ATM bombing gone wrong

July 27, 2012

This Monday, police in Perth, Australia, expressed concern that, if continued, a spate of ATM bombings in the city eventually could lead to someone's injury or death. Now it's clear why they were anxious.

Today on its website, the Sydney Morning Herald posted a security video released by police showing an attempted bombing in a southern suburb of Perth called Success.

As he stands at the ATM, the presumed bomber is suddenly engulfed in a spectacular explosion and is next seen rolling on the ground in flames. His accomplice strolls past him to check the ATM, then both men walk to a waiting car.

Police are worried that the bomber may not be getting medical attention for possibly serious injuries — no area hospital reports having seen a patient in his probable condition.
