Scottish ATM dispenses good karma

December 7, 2017

One good turn deserves another, they say. But rarely is a second turn as good as the one that befell Colin Banks, a builder living in Motherwell, Scotland.

During a recent trip to an Asda supermarket with his daughter Zoe, Banks visited the store's ATM and discovered that the previous user had left his 30 pound ($40.15) cash withdrawal in the dispenser, according to a report by The Sun.

Without a second thought, father and daughter turned over the cash to store management. Within half an hour, Banks was revisited by karma in the form of a 49,077 pound ($65,688) win on a 1.50 pound ($2) long-shot bet he'd placed on a virtual horse race.

"There was a young couple behind us at the cash machine," Zoe Banks said in the report. "They saw what was happening and actually said that good times were coming our way because we had done the right thing — and that’s what happened."

Betfred proprietor Fred Done told The Sun it was one of his betting establishment's largest payouts on a virtual horse race in 50 years.
