Saudi cardholders get cold cash at specially designed drive-up ATMs

Customers of Saudi Hollandi Bank needn't leave the air-conditioned comfort of their automobile to get cash from custom-cooled ATMs.

Saudi Hollandi Bank is expanding its ATM network at drive-up and branch locations with 130 new Cineo ATMs from Wincor Nixdorf and its sales and service partner for Saudi Arabia, Abana.

According to a Wincor Nixdorf press release, more than 50 of the new units are drive-up systems that customers can use to withdraw cash without having to leave their vehicle. The cash machines themselves have been equipped with special air-conditioning systems to avoid overheating under the Saudi Arabian sun, the release said.

"As top temperatures can reach 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees F) and higher, banks in the Gulf Region want to offer their customers ultimate convenience," said Abana General Manager Amr Abdulaziz Alamr.

The new ATMs are slated for rollout in May. Abana will handle IT services for the systems once they are installed.
