Saudi bank orders nearly 600 Diebold custom kiosks, advanced ATMs

Diebold Inc. is deploying advanced, non-traditional self-service options for customers of Saudi Arabia's Al Rajhi Bank through its business partner in the kingdom, Alhamrani Universal Co., the company has announced.

In addition to 560 Opteva ATMs, the bank has purchased customized kiosks enabled for checkbook and debit card issuance, online banking, statement printing and new account opening.

"Diebold's customized self-service kiosks provide unprecedented convenience to our customers, including online banking for those who otherwise may not have access," said Dr. Abdullah A. Al-Namlah, GM of the retail banking group at Al Rajhi Bank.

"Beyond common banking transactions, customers will also be able to receive checkbooks and debit cards instantly at the terminal, as well as video conferencing which will be saving them considerable time compared to traditional channels."

The Opteva ATMs will include 160  Flex Performance models with deposit automation technology and the capability for full cash recycling. The machines validate deposited notes, detect counterfeits, check note fitness and sort cash.

"The [Opteva Flex Performance Series ATMs] allow Al Rajhi Bank to deliver greater value and convenience to its customers and uniquely position the bank's service levels in the region" said Habib Abinader, general manager for Diebold Middle East.
