Santander Bank has completed its acquisition of Webster Financial Corp., the holding company for Webster Bank. The transaction was announced earlier in 2026 and has completed all regulatory approvals and closing conditions, according to a press release.
The combined companies will have approximately $327 billion in assets and $185 billion in loans. Customers can use both Webster Bank and Santander Bank ATMs. Santander will enhance its retail and commercial services via this acquisition.
"This is a pivotal moment in Santander's long journey in the United States that underscores our confidence in the strength and opportunity in the U.S. market," Christiana Riley, CEO of Santander US, said in the release. "By bringing together Santander and Webster, we are combining two organizations with shared values and strong customer relationships. Our five growing businesses will now serve nearly eight million customers across the U.S., with expanded reach and resources to better support their needs and the communities we serve."
