San Diego County CU adds mobile chat

October 31, 2012

After the arrival of video teller machines, it was only a matter of time. San Diego County Credit Union, San Diego's largest locally owned FI, with $5.8 billion in assets, announced this month that it has added a live mobile chat service that enables members to connect directly with CU representatives.

"Our customers who carry the iPhone or Android smartphones can now connect in real-time through seamless integration with a live SDCCU customer service representative for an enhanced customer experience," said San Diego County Credit Union president and CEO Teresa Halleck. "Our team of experienced and knowledgeable representatives are standing by, ready to support our customers and create meaningful, personalized connections across multiple secure online channels."

In an announcement about the service SDCCU said it is one of just two U.S.-based companies — the other being Cisco — currently offering live mobile chat capabilities for iPhone and Android mobile devices. The FI is offering the service through a partnership with LivePerson Inc., a provider of real-time intelligent engagement solutions. The New York-based company's solution is driven by a cloud-based platform that enables businesses to connect in real-time with their customers.

"It was clear from the first conversations that the team at SDCCU is focused on their customers and providing a high level of access and support literally anywhere, now via smartphones," said to Ethan Alexander, head of mobile at LivePerson. He said that the ability to offer LP Mobile Chat right into the mobile SDCCU site offers CU members unparalleled access for a successful customer experience.

Said Halleck, "LivePerson has helped us extend our brand promise into the mobile space and engage both prospective and existing customers wherever they are."
