March 16, 2005

Sacramento (Calif.) Bee: SAFE Credit Union has opened a student-run branch at Rio Linda High School. The collaboration between the credit union and the school is intended to expand students' experiences with finances.

The branch, which opened in February, is the second student-run branch of SAFE Credit Union in the Grant Joint Union High School District. A branch at Highlands High School opened in October 2003.

Five students completed internships with SAFE last summer and will manage the daily operations, including handling deposits and loan payments.

A SAFE ATM will be available on the site. (Free registration is required)
