VTB, a Russian bank, has introduced robots to count cash at the cashier desk. This will in turn help increase cash processing speed and free up employees to perform other tasks, according to a press release.
The bank has also integrated the robot's software with its automated banking system to reduce errors and operational risks.
"Robotization of routine operations is one of the priority areas of VTB's work. It is important that the cash counting robot works around the clock, 365 days a year," Natalia Dirks, management board member, VTB, said in the release. "Currently, this technology is implemented in one of the cash centers in Moscow, and the decision on scaling up will be made based on the results of this pilot project."
