Robbers steal $1 million in cash from ATM security company

July 7, 2011

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, three men held three employees of Commonwealth International, a security service that transports money from ATMs, at gunpoint and left them tied up in a vault before fleeing with more than $1 million in cash.

The Huffington Post reported that Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Steven Ruiz said the robbery happened in the 12300 block of Barringer Street and was reported at 8:43 p.m. on Thursday.

Ruiz said at least one of the robbers was armed, and they broke into the building through the roof and surprised the workers. The victims were found tied up in the vault when officers arrived. No one was injured.
