Report affirms ATM's importance as banking channels evolve

In new research, Mercator Advisory Group reviews how the ATM, mobile banking and mobile payments are converging for convenient interaction between consumers and their financial institutions.

According to the report, "2016 ATM Market Benchmark," ATM operators are deploying cross-channel features and expanding interoperability with various front- and back- office systems.

Mercator offers examples such as mobile prestaging of cardless ATM cash withdrawals; the potential for person-to-person and account-to-account transfers; EMV readers; NFC capabilities; and broader systems monitoring capabilities.
