Regions Bank adds check cashing at 700 ATMs

Regions Bank cardholders have a new option for cashing a check and getting speedy access to their money. Customers carrying selected Regions cards — Regions Visa CheckCard or ATM card, or any Regions Now Card — can now cash a check at more than 700 Regions DepositSmart ATMs.

Check cashing at Regions DepositSmart ATMs is an extension of fee-based check cashing services offered in branches through Regions Now Banking and Chexar. Many check cashing transactions can be approved immediately at the ATM, although some do require additional time for approval.

To deposit a check, the cardholder simply inserts the document into a Regions DepositSmart ATM, which walks the user through the transaction. During the transaction, the ATM also provides information about associated costs and cash availability.

"Customers want more convenience and more tools to manage their money," said Scott Peters, head of Regions consumer services. "Expanding the ability to cash a check at DepositSmart ATMs allows us to extend banking hours for customers, as well as giving them quick and easy access to their funds."

Regions Financial Corp. has $121 billion in assets and serves customers in 16 states. Its subsidiary, Regions Bank, operates approximately 1,700 banking offices and 2,000 ATMs.
