RBI puts a spoke in banks' ATM rush

The (Mumbai) Economic Times: The number of new ATMs opened by banks this fiscal year dropped significantly, when compared to last year, with banks waiting in line for RBI approval. ATM deployment fell sharply in the last quarter of 2006 after the RBI curtailed the banks' freedom to deploy ATMs at will.
